Hearts of Learning is looking for a Social Media Coordinator to join our team!
This is a volunteer remote position. We are currently not financial able to pay a salary.
HOL, as a nonprofit, is a community-level advocate for big systems changes in the realms of local governing authority, diminishing corporate power, and fostering a culture and legal system that is ecocentric – honoring and protecting the inherent rights of ecosystems. Our approach to building and supporting the potential for such changes is engaged in awareness building, education, and various levels of action in the name of community resilience & resistance. The range and magnitude of impact of HOL’s undertakings require high level communications capability and effectiveness especially via the multitude of social media channels.
The primary focus of the HOL Social Media Coordinator is to engage with HOL followers and to explore ways to reach new audiences via HOL’s social media channels. The position would be responsible for 1) management of HOL’s social media channels; 2) creating effective content – written and visual – for posting; 3) corresponding with followers/people who comment; 4) analyzing the effectiveness of social media activities; 5) researching new channels and trends; and 6) when relevant supporting other communication needs of HOL.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Social channel management: managing HOL’s presence on various social networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, X, Youtube, and LinkedIn
- Content curation: sourcing or creating content that is engaging, relevant, and in line with HOL’s focus areas
- Community management: responding to comments from followers and others to build relationships and foster engagement
- Analytics reporting: collating data points from all sources—including web traffic referred from social sites—then producing regular reports detailing successes and areas for improvement
- Channel optimization: using various social media management tools to ensure posts are optimized for maximum reach; regularly testing new strategies for community engagement
- Monitoring: tracking other outlets and organizations related to HOL’s activities to gain insights into people’s understanding and acceptance levels
Requirements and Qualifications
- Three to five years of professional social media experience, working across multiple platforms including X, Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram
- Experience using social media for organizing and advocacy
- Experience or familiarity with social media content creation platforms (e.g. Canva)
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Excellent skills in social media messaging in campaigns
